Pilates Class for Recovery & Joint Repair | Club Pilates Thailand

Written by Club Pilates | Jun 12, 2026 9:40:46 AM

Healing doesn’t have to be passive. If you’ve been advised to “take it easy” by a medical professional but still crave movement, a Pilates class for recovery might just be what you need. It still gives you the joy of moving your body without the intensity that one generally expects with exercise. Our ‘Restore’ class is a session curated for those returning from an injury or dealing with chronic joint pain. It’s designed to be precise and intentional, with slow and controlled movements that add an element of challenge.

About the Club Pilates ‘Restore’ Class

While we have many types of Pilates classes, our ‘Restore’ class is a popular choice among those seeking active rest and recovery. This Pilates class for recovery involves the use of the Pilates Reformer as well as a foam roller. A foam roller is a cylinder-shaped self-massage tool. It’s used to relieve muscle tightness, in turn improving a person’s flexibility and range of motion. By applying your weight to it, the bevels on the tool will break up muscle knots and ease the tight connective tissues, triggering myofascial release.

Benefits of Pilates Class for Recovery

Pilates can improve posture, core stability, and mental clarity. If you’re struggling with back pain or rounded shoulders, you can correct that through regular Pilates classes. The improvement of core stability through Pilates class can also reduce your risk of injury. Furthermore, the low impact nature and combination of mindful breathwork improves a person’s mental state by lowering cortisol and regulating your nervous system.

Physical Benefits of Pilates

With myofascial release, individuals can look forward to reduced muscle soreness, increased physical performance, and most importantly, a reduction in the risk of injury. While there are many benefits to this class, we do not recommend it to those affected by osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, varicose veins, or for individuals currently pregnant. If you are experiencing any of these listed conditions, consult with our team members, and we can suggest a Pilates class that suits your circumstances. At Club Pilates, we believe Pilates is for everyone after all. Our highly-experienced Pilates instructors can easily adjust a class to suit your needs and fitness level.

Mental Benefits of Pilates

As a form of exercise that prioritizes breathwork and mindful movement, Pilates provides positive benefits beyond helping a person get in shape and improve their overall posture. Through the slow and controlled, intentional movement, Pilates can help shift the body out of ‘fight-or-flight’ mode, lowering cortisol and easing a person into a regulated state of being. A lowered level of cortisol can decrease inflammation in your body, regulate your blood pressure, and improve your sleep by helping control your sleep-wake cycle.

Furthermore, the low-level exertion of Pilates can also trigger a release of endorphins. Known as the body’s natural painkiller, these ‘feel good’ chemicals are released during exercise, massage, and other physical activities. They interact with the receptors in your brain to block pain signals and trigger a sense of euphoria. This alleviates your stress and improves your mood, boosting your overall well-being. As a result, it can also decrease depression and anxiety in an individual, providing a holistic approach to physical improvement.

Join Our Club Pilates Member Appreciation Day

Would you be interested in experiencing a Pilates class for recovery? On Sunday, 21 June, 2026, our Pilates studio in Bangkok will host a Member Appreciation event. During this celebration of community, Club Pilates will run a Restore class accompanied by sound therapy. Much like our Restore class, sound therapy is a practice that promotes relaxation and physical healing, except this is done by using specific tones, frequencies, and rhythmic vibrations. The two therapies will run in tandem, promoting relaxation and mental peace for all attendees. Together, these practices will calm your nervous system and help manage your stress.
